Looks like a good site for people from the West Coast.  I'm finishing up the tutorial on speedcams for the forums and should have it posted in a couple of days, that way everyone can get in the "make me a spud file please" game.

Now that i have customized my Mio and have pretty much what I want on it, I guess it is time to start tinkering with the Navigation end of it.  That is why I bought the darn thing afterall.
So I will be updating POI's and speed cams and stuff.  If you have a tutorial for the speedcams, that would be great!  If not, I will try to gather some info on the web and post it here.

I found a link to a speedcamera file that is supposed to work with MIO 3.2. It's a rapidfile download and I don't know if it is okay to post.  Moderators, please advise if it is okay to post this file.

All others, sorry but please do not PM me for the link, I do not want to do anything to jeopardize my registration on this site.

For the record, I've been trying to get this to work on my son's uncracked MIO for the past hour and cannot seem to get it to work; maybe someone more knowledgeable can get it to work.

I don't see any reason why not.

Just go ahead and post it.

Here ia the link to the speedcam database.  Hopefully someone will be be able to get it to work with the c310x.

NEW Custom Compiled Database of 3000 Speedcams for USA and Canada:

http://rapidshare.com/files/27812513/iGo-MioMap_Speedcam_USA-Canada_4-25-07.zip

Speedcam requires iGo 2006 Plus or MioMap 3.2. To install, copy "speedcameras.txt" to "\Storage Card\iGo\POI\Speedcam" for iGo or "\Storage Card\MioMap\miotc\pois\Speedcam" for MioMap. To enable speedcam alerts, you must have a GPS fix first, then go to Settings -> General -> Alerts.

I have a speedcam program that checks for duplicates, I'll upload this file into my exisiting spud file and come up with a delta file that indicates what speed cams were added, if any, and will post the results here.

I can tell you this - the readme text file that accompany's this is inaccurate, you can't simply copy this file to the correct directory on your Mio, the file format is *.spud for Mio, not *.txt, and simply renaming the file also does no good.

I've been able to get it to run on iGo 2006 Plus with no problem. It just won't run on the Mio 3.2.....

Validating results now -

  • Original spud file = 1668 speed cams
  • Speedcam.txt file = 3585 speed cams
  • Duplicates = 1726 speed cams
  • Total speedcams after washing the file = 3527

For me that's way too many speedcams, and I can see a file that large really slowing down the Mio a lot.  I'm going to offer the entire speedcam file here, but think also that I will break it up more regionally to make the files smaller.

I've been able to get it to run on iGo 2006 Plus with no problem. It just won't run on the Mio 3.2.....

Runs fine, just needs to be manipulated and converted into a spud file.

I exported the entire file to KML format so I could look at them in Google Earth (see attached) and am going to split my speedcams east vs. west along a line 100 West Longitude, so my East SpeedcamUpdates.spud file will include all east of mid-Texas, and West would include all west of mid-Texas.  When I'm done I'll upload them here.

I've also attached a screen shot from Google Earth showing the split between the two files and the longitude line that I used. When I'm done, what you'd need to do is store each on your SD Card.  I'll create a script for all to copy these files over so that you don't have to struggle with figuring out which is which...

Okay, split these into two pieces, and I may want to split them up further to reduce the size of these files even more.  Right now I have East and West, and you can see from the attached screen shots how they look in Google Earth.  The attached zip files contain KML files for Google Earth.  Click on the screenshots to expand them.

Great work!  Now what do I need to do to convert them into SPUD files?  By the way, I'm running the entire file on my iGo and it does not appear to be slowing the system.

If you guys want the spud file with ALL the cams in it, I can put that back together.  For those of us who wish to use this more regionally, I've split all now East to West across the -100w line of longitude.

Attached is the zip file, please make damn sure you read the README1ST.txt file before starting.  If you screw up your Mio because you can't or won't follow the simple instructions, then don't come here crying to anyone on the boards!

Unzip the attached on your PC and place it on your SD card in a folder Speedcams.  Otherwise it won't work.

Note - it takes about 1/10th of a second to run this script, and your Mio will reset almost immediately, so don't freak out at how fast it is.

Thank you for your hard work.  If it's not too much trouble can you post the entire file?  Thank you again.
