I wanted to share with our guests and members the thoughts I put into our registration agreement, discuss COPPA, and our disclaimer.  The Registration Agreement is what you see, and agree to when you register here on these forums.  For those of you who are Guests and have not registered, I would appreciate you at least reading through this agreement and familiarizing yourself with it as this is also our site's disclaimer, and it details our intent regarding COPPA. I'll discuss that after the agreement.

Registration Agreement:

Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator or moderator of this forum immediately. The staff and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, please realize that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to member profile information as well.

You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this forum, any related websites to this forum, its staff, and its subsidiaries. With this user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another person except an administrator, for your protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another person's account for any reason.  We also HIGHLY recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to prevent account theft.

Any information the forum owner or staff determines to be inaccurate or vulgar in nature will be removed, with or without prior notice. Appropriate sanctions may be applicable.

To protect the rights of children on the internet, if you are not above the age of 13 do not sign up without prior agreement from your parents.  Parents of children 13 and under, if you wish your child to have a membership on this site (and we do welcome them!), then please send an email with your child's suggested User ID to mymio@hugginsnet.com and request an account.

This is what I've suggested, and for you members, if you want to request a change to this feel free to do so here. I'm open to suggestions.

On COPPA, we take the protection of children's rights on the internet very seriously.  COPPA is the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, and basically it is their bill of rights and should be respected.  We don't mind if children wish to peruse our forums, as a matter of fact we look forward to their input. However, for a child to register on a web (in the US that is), there are very specific instructions on protecting their privacy that include parental permission for children 13 and under.  If you would like to learn more about COPPA, please visit http://www.coppa.org/coppa.htm.

As I said, any suggestions here would be welcome!

Seems to be a little issue with some of you registering and then getting a warning screen that you're not old enough.  You must remember to check that you are over 13 on the reg screen or that's what you get, a warning and your account stays in limbo.  If this happens to you, please send me a PM and I'll fix it for you.

Here's the boxes that need to be checked:
